Retopology

Post by Gochris »

Hello!

Just came back to Curvy 3D. Version 4.0 looks great.

Once I create a Curvy 3D model, I would like to rig and animate it.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a program to use for retopology?

I am currently using 3D Coat to retopologize models made in Cinema 4D. I like 3D coat, but I really want to
try the Curvy method for modeling. Coming from a 2D background, I think maybe I would like it better than 3D Coat.

If anyone knows of a program that does a good job of retopology on Curvy 3D models, please let me know.

Thanks!
Gochris

Thanks Simon!

3D Coat's Instant Meshes work pretty well, so I will try a Curvy3D to Instant Mesh method.

Very excited about Curvy 3D!

3DCoat´s solution is in my opinion superior in comparison with instant meshes with some smaller flaws. There´s also a rather nice and turbo quick 100% quad remesher without guidelines hidden away for years in 3DCoat and I asked to reactivate it again a while ago, the "old style quadrangulation".

Autoremesher seems to have some problems with assured waterproof result meshes at the moment as others reported. I personally find too much triangles appearing in results.

You can also try Autoremesher or Quadriflow (Linux) to prevent those problems:
