I've been introduced to a new scanning system based on multiple photos.
I know some of you are interested in 3D printers - but would you like to do more 3D scanning? The best bit about using photos rather than other techniques is that you can scan at any scale from tabletop to whole mountains!

That looks pretty neat. I'll have to keep an eye on it as it develops. I'm currently looking to get an iPad Mini for Autodesk Sculpt

The iPad just has more going for it for 3d scanning and speed.
So far, I'm using Cubify Invent to make things for 3d printing that would otherwise take more steps in Blender to achieve. It's a wonderful, cheap, and easy to use piece of software.

They contacted me. I'd love to have a powerful scanner to do things like capture a full body pose as a starting point for a sculpture. I'm not sure how much of a limitation it is that you need textured surfaces to reconstruct the shape from.
Then again I do like simply sculpting from scratch with photos as reference.
Cubify looks good - nicely focussed on the task of building printable models.

I'm there with ya. I'm hopefully getting some form of 3d scanner in the near future. Either with the iPad or purchasing possibly a kickstarter one. I just recently got a second 3d printer. It's called FlashForge Creator. It's a Replicator 2 clone from China. Very good quality. It's dual head so I can do dual colors. I'll have to upload and show you a few of my dual color prints.

I'm pretty sure I hijacked your thread Simon. My apologies.
I don't know if this link will work, but here's a dual print I did for a local client.

If that doesn't work, this may:

Here's another print that came out better than expected. Keep in mind, this was printed WITHOUT supports!
