Curvy Vertex

Post by Simon »

You can paint and erase 3D textures using Curvy Vertex technology. (Poor framerate due to GIF compression - it is better in Curvy)

You can generate your own 3D Textures from any model. No need to carefully set up a grid or restrict yourself to a few non-topology brushes. Below I just threw a bunch of Curvy Objects into an Array and baked them with Voxel Merge - then baked them again into a 3D texture, complete with overhangs and localised detail.

3D textures are just the same as regular RGB textures, so I added a tiling effect in GIMP and loaded the result back onto my brush ready for painting on the surface.

Below - painting with a couple of different 3D Textures to show how the forms blend seamlessly between them.

N.B. I wouldn't actually recommend 3D textures for hard edged geometry like this - much better to wrap a proxy array over the surface - but this was a good test of what it possible with the generator.
