I used my old Curvy 4.0 Dragon. Voxel Merged all of the parts into a single skin. Added a Scale. Looks awesome. Need to fine tune a bit to add some variation across the surface, perhaps different shaped scales on different parts of the body.

(Looks weird when I accidentally let the Zombie anim play on the dragon scales!)

Did the Dragon Scales. Up on Patreon.

When you have many thousand scales it starts to look like a bumpmap, although you do get nice parallax effects in the details. Also it's easier to use than a bumpmap as you can direct the flow of the scales over a complex body with multiple limbs without the need for UV maps with their stretching and seams.

I imagine shading it is easier as well. Very very cool. my goodness.

Arseniy Korablev has got a very nice version of Brush Strokes. He was doing this stuff years ago under PolyBrush.
