Well I thought it was about time I tried to create a full creature top to bottom using standard box modelling techniques.
Its unfinished but it taught me a lot. Done in Truespace then rendered in Carrara. I need to sort out the fact that he is unbalanced... Tilts too far back. need to be leaning forward just a bit. Also bring his legs back a bit further.
840 polys without subdividing.
Cheers

Most excellent Mykyl.....you conquered the box!! I got Poser 6 recently. I'm thinking about taking a Curvy figure in there and see if I can Poserize it. Keep up the exercise folks.......( I wish I could say that about my body lol....). It's been digitally atrophied it feels.....
I gotta couple comin' down the pike I think you may enjoy.....
Thanks for the comments folks. Truespace is going up in my estimation the more I play with it. If the render engine was better than Carrara then maybe I would stick with it. Very easy to setup the bones and set constraints etc. I do have a plugin to render through Virtualight with truespace so may try that out.
I like the fact that as you work it puts the tools that are relevant to what you are currently doing into a group ready to be used. Very neat and quick.
Cant wait to see what animation improvements have been made for v7.
In particular, here are some on setting up IK and animating with them. What you learn with IK on geometry is also useful when dealing with bones (which typically use IK as well). http://www.carrarastudio.com/tutorials/
