Hard Surface Modelling

Sci-fi Vehicle modelled in Curvy, rendered in Blender.

Video Tutorial

Vehicle in Curvy's own renderer.

Clay shading of Vehicle.

This image shows how the model was constructed from different Curvy primitive types.

Splitting up the mesh and removing copies of the same object shows a simpler view of the parts required.

Here are the individual parts listed by type:

And here is the Curvy Map I used to create the banded effect on the hose. This is used in combination with the new "View/Panels/Texture Placement" controls to change the tiling of the map on the object.

Some tips from the tutorial:

26 Sci-Fi Models in 15 Minutes in Curvy 3D 4.0
Hard Edge Modelling: Cars Robots Spaceships
Rotate at a point - Drag anywhere else than the rotation handles
Ctrl+D Duplicate Objects
Ctrl+G Group Objects
Drag in Groups Panel to set Child
Shift+Drag in Groups Panel to select several objects at once
Rounded Bevel - Can flatten Lathe and Line end caps
Redraw Curve - Interpolates a newly drawn curve into existing curve.
S - Smooth selected Curve or Mesh
Curvy Map: http://www.curvy3d.com/images/c4/baseshape1.JPG
Texture Placement Panel
Soft Move Tool with zero intensity will drag a single point on curve.
"Curve/Draw Precise Lines" Turns off drawn curve smoothing.
Ruler tool - redraw straight segments
Lofts: Order and direction of curves matter
Draw along, then start, then finish curves.
If Loft curves in wrong direction model will twist out of shape.
For small models use Fine in "Mesh/Voxel Merge Properties"

Sorry it went a bit fast, here is the location of the Distribute button, select any transform tool, like move, and use the buttons below in the sidebar.
