Re: Multi Dynamic Trim Curves for Sculpting

My main focus at the moment is on getting the materials finished - but as soon as it is stable again I'll ship a Beta.

Re: Dynamic Materials

I'm pretty happy with the underlying tech for Materials. Now I'm concentrating on making the UI easier to use for the 5 beta.

Re: Dynamic Materials

Making some non-realistic lighting and material sets in different styles. I like the soft lighting one, am working on some gentle soft shadows and reflected colours (Global Illumination style) to go with that look. Note: these are presentation styles, you can swap the whole scene to a generic brown ...

Re: Does it still support Dogwaffle / PD Howler or Artist?

Ineresting to see the Howler/Artist split, do you know roughly the ratio of people using each? Interested as Curvy now has it's own little sibling in production.

Material Layers

For more advanced effects you can layer one material on top of another, like this auto paint (don't know the technical name)

You can see the layers I used on the left, a metallic sparkly/rough layer underneath, and a gloss coat on top.

Re: Does it still support Dogwaffle / PD Howler or Artist?

I tried the Dogwaffle interface in 4 and it seems the connecting code has got out of date - some, but not all the functions worked. I'll need to get a new copy of Dogwaffle and the API to get it working again.

Re: Material Blending

If you use a ready made material you just paint over the model.

Making materials from scratch is a matter of selecting a couple of textures and a few sliders.

Material Blending

A closer look at material blending in 5. Each material uses a different blend texture to mix it into the next, letting you make worn, stripy or spotty transitions easily.

Dynamic Materials

Working towards a simple 2 step process - pick a Light Rig for all objects, then Pick Materials per object. If is simple to adjust materials, and a bit harder to create Light Rigs from scratch - which I think is OK as you make lots of materials for each Light Rig you need. It is easy to store and sh...

Re: Curvy3D GO

Holding down s will smooth a mesh very quickly. I've not added the same feature for curves yet.

I've emailed you about 5.

Metamerge is very much a GO feature. It's in the plan for a few milestones time.

Dynamic Lighting

I'm ditching matcaps in favor of dynamic lighting. I've put a clip of moving a point light around in realtime on Patreon . I like things like point lights and spot lights. I'd like to have different light shapes too to cast interesting shadows on my models. I'm planning to let you paint with complet...
