Re: Dynamic Lighting

Potentially yes, if you tweaked the format a little. It is the same idea translated into a system that makes sense to an artist rather than a physics person.

Re: 3D Brush Strokes

Arseniy Korablev has got a very nice version of Brush Strokes. He was doing this stuff years ago under PolyBrush.

Re: Dynamic Lighting

Unlike my old MatCap/Lightmap system I've taken all the properties that have to do with the environment, lighting, reflections and so on into the LightRig, and left only a few basic properties on the MatRig, like colour, roughness, metalness and finickity stuff like texture, bump and displacement ma...

Shape Blending

I'm thinking about blending shapes. A Curvy object into another, a Mesh into another. Would be fun to try with multiple morph targets, with a blend control for each.

An easy way to turn a few source objects into many variations. Or one object into a sequence of developing forms.

Re: Return of Bones

Posing work is going well. It is now easy to pose a complex model by simply dragging the hands and feet into pose (rather than painstakingly rotating each limb into place in 3D). And, as requested, you can do good toon animation effects by over extending limbs on extreme poses (and in general moving...

Re: Curvy 4 vs 5 Beta

Yes, once you have paid £100 you get a full 5 license to keep (although the actual release price might be higher that that, so you may save money that way).

5 is not going to release for at least a year, probably two.

I'm not thinking about an upgrade price from 4 to 5 yet.

Re: 3D Brush Strokes

Did the Dragon Scales. Up on Patreon. When you have many thousand scales it starts to look like a bumpmap, although you do get nice parallax effects in the details. Also it's easier to use than a bumpmap as you can direct the flow of the scales over a complex body with multiple limbs without the nee...

Re: 3D Brush Strokes

I used my old Curvy 4.0 Dragon. Voxel Merged all of the parts into a single skin. Added a Scale. Looks awesome. Need to fine tune a bit to add some variation across the surface, perhaps different shaped scales on different parts of the body. (Looks weird when I accidentally let the Zombie anim play ...

Re: Curvy 4 vs 5 Beta

4.1 was the last feature update for 4. Going forwards development is on GO and 5. The current 5 Beta has all the features in 4.1 plus a couple of new things. Going forward the 5 Beta is the best place to get the new features as soon as possible. (Everything up to October 2020 is in 5.0.01 Beta, and ...
