This can happen with double sided objects like the Loft. If you sculpt on the back side of the object the sculpting effect is reversed.

An alternative to Displacement Maps, that require high-poly meshes, is Volume Textures. They look similar but can work even on low res meshes.

You can turn on Z-Depth rendering on the Camera Panel, and the option "Show Depth". Then when you save the animation it will output depth as greyscale.

No. But the closest thing you can do is a "Create Sketch" primitive and import svg into that. It won't make any meshes, but the curves will be available to copy and use in other objects.

You can make a simple extruded shape with the Slab primitive. Just draw an outline and set the extrusion depth in the object properties panel. You can also extrude along a path by selecting a slab and then choosing the Menu: Mesh/Brush Strokes and then drawing an extrusion curve - and ticking "Stret...
