I myself had missed the use of the mesh scale z in the inflate dialog box

so by reducing this value the step shown above of z scaling can be by-passed.

also realized
some inflates can have more detail preserved by reducing the quad size to 1

sleep sweetly sleep

Image was prepared in a paint program as a coloured depth map. Had to redo it several times till i got the hang of where to lighten and darken to suit the inflate. Then simply inflated in the curvy beta. I really liked the fine art type of result. http://www.curvy3d.com/gallery/albums/userpics/fa.jpg

I think this tutorial falls down a bit because it assumes knowledge from the viewer that frankly may not be there. In the video we see a click on the base colour and magically the model changes even though the base colour remains white. I think the curvy help file needs to explain a bit about alpha ...

The other great thing is that the widgit move tool takes on a whole new life with these flat panels, you can bend and twist them at will.
Rather like a very powerful loft.
So the architecture does not have to remain square.

very impressive
you have a good eye for 3d form.
I am interested to why you need zbrush in the 3rd stage.
Maybe we could ask simon to make some changes so it could be done in curvy ?
