Yeah, it would have taken days without that Curvy + Meshlab magic!

The animation itself was made in another program I wrote to help with making games - it is optimised as a character rigger/animator, very fast to use but not so user-friendly as Curvy ;)

And here is a go at the walk cycle:

It's early days for the animation - but the Lo-Poly model is holding up well under the strain.
I am planning for these to appear fairly small on the screen so they can be a bit rough :)

Here is an animated version - The legs go crazy at full speed, so I have included a slo-mo version too!

[EDIT - Oops I had my video running in timelapse mode, so the gallop was double speed...]

Oh yes :D To be honest this will be by far the most complex animation I have ever done so it will be quite a challenge. I'll let you see how I get on :)

Curvy 2 - Horse Sculpt (Lo-Poly)

I'm making a little lo-poly horse for Spice Road so I did a quick 3D sketch in Curvy then reduced it down to a decent polycount for gaming with MeshLab (Quadric Simplification).

That is lovely! Ace photo reconstruction technique.

Did you have to do something clever to get the texture to line up on the model?

Curvy 2.0 is currently in beta for people who bought Curvy 1.5.

There isn't an 2.0 demo version ready yet.

Thanks for that. I like the clay-like build up of accurate but fairly low poly shapes, ready for a final pass of detailing later. I wish I was better at anatomy then I would try some more complex figure studies using this multi-lathe merge approach.

Ace, I was hoping to get some meshlab poly reduction tips :)
Saving out stock shapes is a good idea - although I always seem to start from scratch.
The nose in particular is a very clean shape.

I want to try some more renders myself - still haven't quite worked out Blender though!

Sweet - that render gets a lot more out of the same model. I like the way the reddish reflections seem to make a costume on the skater's body.

Grim Sid

This is a quick character test to try out some manga style modelling in Curvy. http://www.curvy3d.com/images/GrimSid1.JPG I build the head out of four Curvy Lathes as you can see below. Then I s-merged them and sculpted a little bit on top (not a lot - the basic shape was correct from the first shap...
