Re: Robot Concept WIP - ME

Wow, I wouldn't have thought Curvy looking at all those precise cut robot parts - looks great!

Re: Exporting a Posed Model to Blender as OBJ

Hmm. I managed to crash it trying to get a model with bones exported. It's not something I've done before - I'd hoped at least I could bake the bones deformation into a regular mesh to export. Might need to add that as an option - or just handle the export better and include the pose. I'm still not ...

Re: Return of Bones

You change the Radius A and Radius B in Obj Props (Same place as Sphere Radius + Squash bars)

Re: Misc

I'm considering adding optional pivot points - so if you like you can fix a rotation point between an object and it's parent (probably with an initial position of where the models overlap). A bit like bones, but with less setup, and working on separate objects rather than a whole mesh.

Curvy 3D Go

Curvy 3D Go is a new entry level 3D modelling program, ideal for first time modellers. It has a streamlined interface and a large shapes and models library making it easy to get started in 3D.

Coming Soon.

Re: Realtime Ambient Occlusion

DoF/Bokeh should be possible as a post effect, as we have a depth map. I know some 2D programs can take a depth map and calculate a DoF effect from it - I can probably do the same. Have you tried making your own lightmaps (matcaps) or downloading some from the web? You can get all sorts of lighting ...

Curve Bevel

When working with Slabs and Mesh Brush Strokes the exact points making up the curve are extruded into a mesh. If there are lots of points in the curve, the mesh is very dense. To help with this I've added an improved Curve Optimize tool to reduce the curve points while keeping the shape. However - i...

Re: Heads of State

Cool looking heads, a lot of different character just from the base shapes. I see the tall one as wise, and the round one as jolly.

Re: Realtime Ambient Occlusion

Yes in 5, and in the Beta as soon as I can polish it all up. I'm also working on an improved Hires screenshot - that should be much faster than before using this AO system.

Realtime Ambient Occlusion

I've added realtime Ambient Occlusion to help define the surface features of a model in the editor itself. This is helpful in seeing how objects relate to each other in depth, and distinguishing flat surfaces that only differ in depth. (You can already render AO in the layered screenshot) This examp...

Radial Curve Symmetry

You can now use rotational symmetry when editing curves. You can have as many copies as you like - eg: a 100 tooth cogwheel is OK, or just a 2 ended shape. A blob https://www.curvy3d.com/images/c5/sym1.jpg A slab https://www.curvy3d.com/images/c5/sym2.jpg It's fun just playing with sketch curves too...

Misc

I'm going to log smaller changes here: Added a Spin Tool , that rotates an object around it's longest axis. useful for posing and positioning things that are not lined up with the normal widgit axes. Draw Curve Details is much more robust now, letting you draw and extend the ends of curves more rel...

Re: Shaped Profiles on Lathe

Hi Action52, welcome to the Curvy forum :)

There should be a new Beta version to try in the next couple of months. The Beta is by invite to people who are active and helpful on the forum.

The full version release has not been announced yet. Roughly speaking 1to 4 years - when it is ready.

Shaped Profiles on Lathe

Anything a Lathe or a Line can do in Curvy 3D 4, Curvy 3D 5 can do better - with fully customised profile shapes to add simple details to your models. This example shows 1 curve to draw the profile, and 1 curve to shape the side of the Lathe. The same technique works for any shape of lathe with more...
