found on the Silo forum, it's a real neat tool especially for modellers but i'm sure it can used for a lot of other uses as well, watch the video, it can explain far better than I could.

Wow, very nice find bigH. I've downloaded it and tried it out. It's not bad. Works as suggested. This will be great for references in Curvy.
C is missing : Scream's pain of Clicking dost my Keyboard a Thinkin'. I need a new Laptop.

This kind of semi-transparent background overlay is already built into Curvy "View/Overlay Background" - I use it quite a lot when roughing out models from a sketch.

Still, it is a cool app and a clever use of window modes.
