Battlemage

This is a pure Curvy sculpt made out of simple Curvy primitives. I only used sculpting brushes on the helm and skulls. I added the glow afterwards.

Here is a rework with a new pose and lighting setup:

I decided not to use any textures and let the forms show through clearly.

Here is the original sketch I was working towards.

some super shapes in there simon :)

i find my eye is drawn too much to the intersection between the glow and the body.
Not sure why that is, is it because the glow is almost round ? or is it the brightness of the glow ?

The glow could blend better into the surrounding objects if it illuminated them up. As it is it is quite bright compared to the rest and draws the eye too much.

hi simon
Is that middle image a depth map ? (it seems pretty close to one )
how did you produce it ?

When you use "Layered Screenshot" from Curvy it saves a depth map and an ambient occlusion map as well as the colour version. I combined the depth and ambient to get the grey image above.
