I love the big spikes in the second one, and the endless maze of details in the reflections and image repeated on the surface. I prefer the more human form in the first to the alien in the second, but the shapes are still interesting.
Cool texture blends, looks fun for trying out all kinds of looks on a model. With some renderers you can spin materials like this in realtime - by prerendering to a normal map, and using texture/lighting replacement.
