subtitle - chain reaction
Image
Edit : updated chains

had great fun making this one
buildings - curvy lathe then curvy's clever mapping system(2 mins )
chain - inflate then used curvy's superb manipulation. (10 mins)
reused an old curvy 1.5 warp mesh for the alien.( the right expression) :)

shorter render( bryce 5.5) (don't need a lot of detail for a cd)
(consulted some bryce expertise for the lighting)

I love the buildings and the overall look. The repeated hollow cubic cavities look really distinctive.

Could the chain be shinier to make it stand out?

an exercise in using patterns for curvy maps

question - the colours are nice bright and pure in curvy.
but after taking a screenshot or saving an image. They have dulled and then i have to do a tone curve on them in a paint program to brighten them up again.

Anybody know - Is there a way i can set xp to the same colour system as curvy uses ?

Have you tried a around-about? Upping the contrast/brightness in a 2d app then putting it in Curvy. Then when you export, it will look more close to what you want.

I know my ATI card has separate gamma/colour settings for 3D and normal 2D applications - so it is possible they are setup differently?

I like the new chains, I thought you had carefully linked up some Curvy Lines, but Image Inflate makes sense!

I love the pattern objects, the mixture of smoohtly rounded object and square patterns is very satisfying.

just a lathe and a curvy map (a single texture used at two different resolutions)
