This one will work really well as a smooth inflate - the bird shape is quite smooth and all the richness can come from the outline and texture.
At the moment it looks a bit flat and lumpy - Might be improved by using the soft highlight map for the highlight and setting the highlight to use the same colour map as the main texture to give a feather-sheen rather than a plastic highlight.
Hmm... should I see this as a challenge to make a birdie in Curvy2
