Low Poly Human Head Tutorial

Low Poly Human Head Tutorial

So I have been playing with voxel merge properties and have discovered a simple and fast method of making nice low polygon meshes with Curvy3d, like the human head mesh posted above.

This began with two simple lathes. One for skull and the other for the jaw. Notice the low resolution for both. These are tri polygon meshes fyi.

^^very unpretty and non-head like.

Now I group the lathes like so.
Then under "Mesh" in the menu bar I use Fit To>>Child Object (Inflate)
Then do the same process in the opposite by flipping the heiarchy like so.

Here is what it looks like. Not nice. All those extra polys in the middle. Thats why we voxel merge it. But first!

*Go back to "Mesh" in the menu bar and select "Voxel Merge Properties" and change it to .1
*Now Select the Group in the Group Panel and Voxel Merge the Group.

^^ Nice and tidy mesh. You can now adjust this mesh in Blender and easily implement it for game development. I recommend using the "remesh" property in Blender.

Some Tips....

If you are getting too many tris with ".1" then adjust the voxel merge property to a greater than ".1"
Mirroring your mesh over the Y axis is also useful to create shapes after you voxel merge your lathes.

Cool to see these tools working in low-poly, I usually have 10,000's of tris. Thanks.
