Step-By-Step Video/Audio

Hi Friends, I purchased Curvy 3D 2.0 Pro a week or so ago and I've been having a LOT of fun with it.

One thing I've not been able to find though is a Sculpty Video Tutorial that covers each step of the process step by step with AUDIO turned on and someone explaining exactly what to do and why we do it.

I'm one of those "Has to see it" learners, and I've been looking around the web for any Video of this type and haven't been able to find anything. Does anyone know of any Tutorial of this type, that includes audio and describes each step and each tool as they are used in the process?

Thanks,

Hi Bunderfeld,
I expect you have found the Car Seat Tutorial?

This is an important feature to understand so I will have another go making a simple tutorial that runs through the process more clearly if you need one.

Hi Simon, I have looked at the Car Seat tutorial, problem is there's no Speaking Audio track that describes each process and how each tool works.

If you have the ability to make another Tutorial, perhaps something simple, like a Goblet or something along those lines, and talk thru each step and perhaps what is different from a Sculpty Item and just a regular 3D Draw item. I tried to follow the "Teapot" tutorial, but when I exported it for Sculpty, when I took it into InWorldz (same engine as Second Life), I only got 1/2 of the Teapot. Why this occurred is something I'm just not grasping, and I gotta feeling it's something real simple, but I'm not seeing it.

Thanks,

Quite right - that one doesn't have audio. I will make a mini-tute focused on the export process ( with audio this time :) )

Thanks Simon, but if I may, can I ask that a simple tutorial of how to create something simple, then how to export it, all in the same tutorial?

I'm fairly certain I understand how the Export process works and how to turn on Sculpty Mode, those I was able to figure out, my problem is I just don't understand the creation process. I have watched your Video Tutorial where you make the Chest Plate, and still I don't get this whole three curves or four are what you need to have to start. Perhaps I'm just stuck in my 2D thinking and can't grasp what's up, but I'm certainly trying :)

I just sat down to make one - but couldn't log into 2nd life... so I am installing InWorldz to see how that works :)

I am going to demonstrate a teapot - the body, spout and handle have 1,2 and 3 curves respectively so it should be useful to you for making models.

Wow Simon, thanks! I actually did the Teapot Tutorial, and exported it as a Sculpt, but it came out with only 1/2 half the Teapot showing! I appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to do this, it's really going to be a lot of help to me.

Thanks,

The teapot tuturial on TheBest3D ends by Merging the handle onto the body. Unfortunately that is one operation that will break the sculptie export (and end up with half a teapot).

How you solve this issue depends on how many prims you want to make the pot out of. For instance you could make the lid and body one prim, and the handle and spout another (with a hidden link between them inside the body).

I've just got my InWorldz account setup so I look forward to trying it out later :)

I look forward to seeing the tutorial, I'm sure after seeing how things are done, I'll have a better understanding on how sculpts are created.

Let me be the first to welcome you to InWorldz, if you need a location to do your work, let me know and I'll happily set you up on one of my SIMs.

Thanks for the welcome Bob :)

I logged into InWorldz today and a helpful greeter gave me some sandbox locations to work in. The upload and creating works just like SL so that was simple - but in InWorldz it is free to upload images and try stuff out :D

In fact the only tricky point in the process is uploading the final video to youtube - apparently my 4 minute video will take over 5 hours to upload :(

It will get there eventually... or I will try and upload it again tomorrow.

The Greeters/Mentors in InWorldz are what makes the InWorldz experience better then all other 3rd Party Grid Operations. They are especially helpful for the New Residents, as you know, as they can quickly point you to where you want to be and even fill you in on some of the wonderful options, like no cost for uploads, that are in InWorldz.

One thing I use, when I find the uploading process depressing, is DropBox. It's like a Post Box on the Internet, but works in reverse. You upload whatever you want to share to your DropBox Folder, then, depending on if the upload is private or public, you can set it up easily and quickly for your purposes. I share Tutorials using DropBox, when I'm making a Tutorial for just a few people and it's a lot easier for the End Users.[/quote]

All the same, I'm very appreciative for the coming Tutorial. I have been trying to wrap my head around Sculpts for nearly 2 years, and I'm not kidding, and no matter what software I used to create them, I still haven't been able to figure all this out. Which is why I turned to your Software, Curvy 3D 2.0, as it looks a whole lot easier then software like MAYA. I only hope that eventually I can not only understand this whole Sculpt thing, but also can start creating my own, as it's frustrating having to find someone that can make Sculpts, then wait for for it to be completed.

I love Dropbox - I hadn't considered it for sharing large files on the internet.

Here you go 53Mb xvid avi:

Thanks so much Simon, I know you job as CEO keeps you real busy, so taking time out of your day to assist a Customer in this manner shows me that Customer Service is high on the Priority List at your Development House.

If you ever need a more permanent location to test sculpts in a Virtual World, I will be happy to give you a dedicated space for you; I'm certain I can find a spot for you in one of the four SIMs we own there :)

Got the Video, will be watching it soon and let you know if I have any more questions.

Thanks Again,

Bob Bunderfeld, InWorldz
